Vail’s Best Summer Job!

We received this memo in our office today regarding Vail’s Best Summer Job!

“As many of you may know, this summer the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council launched a creative new program called America’s Best Summer Job. We selected a winner of this program through an online, social media contest. The winner, Benjamin Solomon, has been living in Vail since early June highlighting his experiences through the Vail.com blog and various social media outlets.”

Benjamin Solomon of Brooklyn, NY was the winner and the summer is off to a terrific start!  “This program is designed to help the entire community to spread the word and encourage trial of Vail this summer or remind repeat guests why they should come back. We encourage you to get involved in the program by following him on his social media outlets or by sharing information that is posted on the Vail social media channels.” -Kristin Yantis

We are excited and proud to announce that #VailBen will be staying with us July 21-25.

To follow what he has been up to &/or if you’d like to share his content:

While he is here, hopefully we can keep you all updated on his adventures while staying with us here at Vail Spa.

Closing Day!

Vail-Closing-Day-2014

Well, Vail Mountain has closed! It has been a great season and it was wonderful seeing everyone from years past. There are a lot of reasons to be celebrating right now but please be safe!

We would like to thank everyone for a great 2013/2014 Winter Season and hope to see everyone next season!

Now on to summer!

Spring Back to Vail!

Spring Back to Vail is the biggest end-of-season bash in the Rocky Mountains!  We’re ending the season in style with some serious fun under the sun, including free live concerts, the infamous World Pond Skimming Championships, presented by Red Bull, Bud Light après after-dark parties, base area giveaways, and so much more!

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, STS9 and Steel Pulse will headline the Spring Back to Vail concert series, wrapping up the 2013-2014 ski and snowboard season. All concerts are free and open to the public as part of Spring Back to Vail.

A limited number of Spring Back to Vail Private Reserve passes are available for the concert at Ford Park in Vail, Colo., on Saturday, April 12. The Private Reserve area includes preferred viewing, private venue entrance, complimentary food and beverage (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a rocking party. Non-transferable Private Reserve Passes are available for $100.00 per concert. Private Reserve passes are available for purchase by clicking here.

The closing day tradition of donning costumes and skimming across icy water holds strong as participants will careen themselves off a snow jump in the hopes of coming out on the other side in the 12th annual World Pond Skimming Championships, presented by Red Bull. The spectacle defies the laws of physics and common sense as a panel of highly-skilled judges scores each competitor on distance, style, creativity and water resistance. Registration is now open. Register online here.

Adding to Spring Back festivities will be the Red Bull Great Race 2.0. The event will challenge 35 teams of two people through an on-mountain obstacle course. Winners will be determined by overall time and their performance on the course. Registration is free and will be open on race day, April 13th, from 10am-1pm at Mountain Plaza and from Noon-1pm at Golden Peak. The contest will be held at Golden Peak from 1pm-3pm.

Spring Back to Vail is presented by Vail Mountain, Pepsi, Bud Light, Sprint, Helly Hansen, GoPro, SmartWool, and Town of Vail and brought to you in part by Liberty Skis and Gatorade.

Snowmobiling Tour

If you live here or are just here to visit and want something fun to do…Sage Outdoor Adventures is the place to go for the day.

Sage Outdoor Adventures hosted us on Thursday, December 5th with a fabulous snowmobiling tour that was so much fun and picture worthy that everyone will remember it. Everyone at Sage is so knowledgeable and friendly that you forget about the cold because you are just having so much fun!

Sage’s motto is ‘Our activities are built by the guest, for the guest. Sage has taken the guide service industry to the next level of customer service and quality of experience. Our guides and equipment are the best in the business. Come enjoy the great outdoors with us. We can not wait to share an adventure with you!’ – and boy this is certainly true!

As for how the tour went…well, their description is better than what I can do (I’m horrible at describing) “Perfect for experienced or beginner riders. The tour starts from their beautiful log cabin with running water and newly completed restrooms, set at 8000 feet in elevation, just west of Vail and Beaver Creek. From there your guide will lead you out on 6000 acres of untouched winter wonderland through aspen glades, dark timber forests, to high alpine meadows, and along ridges with massive views. Our trails are extremely entertaining and fun to ride as we have handcrafted them through the coolest areas of the ranch for your enjoyment. Singletrack trails are our favorite!!”

Sage uses NEW SkiDoo Grand Touring Sport/ 600 ACE 4-stroke engine (60 HP) on all our guided tours (Very eco-friendly, clean burning, and quiet…no more exhaust odor!)

Transportation from your hotel in Beaver Creek, Vail, or Avon are provided. This experience for us was so easy and so much fun that we recommend you go with Sage and have a best time on your vacation here in Vail! We did take some photos to share so here are a few from the day:
